Year 1 New Outdoor Area
Work began on the old Highnam Under Fives outdoor learning area during October half term. Jointly funded by the school and the PTA the aim was to create a new area which would be used by the Year 1 class during lesson time and the whole school during lunchtimes.
Firstly, the old shed, fencing and tree roots were removed. A digger was needed to remove the large tree root in the centre of the area. The plan was to create an area which was available for pupil-led creative play. Alongside the astroturf zone is a large playhouse which has a store at the back which opens out on to the playground to store new lunchtime equipment.
Year 1 can't wait to use their new area!
