Kenya Day in Year 5/6

We had a great day learning all about Kenya. Here are some photos from the day. Mr Baird, our Kenya expert, first of all asked us to construct a huge floor jigsaw map of Kenya which was great fun. We learnt so many geographical facts in the process too. He also made the traditional Kenyan dish Ugali which was promptly devoured by many (not all) pupils. It consists of maize and beans and is considered a good meal by most Kenyan families.

The afternoon was superb. We all attended a Kenyan wedding and we sang and danced as Scott and Gabby were married. The bride and groom were dressed up, as were many of the guests, in African wedding clothes and we even created music using typical African instruments. We also had many opportunities to ask questions which were prompted by fascinating photographs of the country in question.

The whole day was a great success and a huge opportunity for learning about Kenya and its geography too.
