Tour of Britain Races By
On Thursday 8th September pupils in Key Stage Two had the opportunity to see the Tour of Britain bike race. On a lovely afternoon the pupils headed across the fields to see the bikes whizz past.
The classes managed to get a good spot near to Over Farm Market and waited patiently for the road to be closed. Once the roads were closed we watch the numerous police bikes fly past preparing to close the next roads. As the bikes went past they would often beep their horns or even hi-five the pupils! This was a highlight for a number of the children.
We didn't have to wait very long until the first 5 bikes whizzed past. After a few team cars followed and then the peloton appeared in the distance. Over one hundred bikes passed the pupils in a matter of seconds, along with camera bikes and team cars.
There was a real buzz of excitement as the pupils chanted 'Bradley, Bradley' hoping to catch a glimpse of Sir Bradley Wiggins as he rode by.
We had a great afternoon and thank you to the parent helpers who joined us for this unforgettable experience.
