After Collective Worship four Highnam pupils, Esther and Mr Dean visited the Dean Heritage Centre to meet with pupils from Woodside School and their headteacher Mrs Davies and Kenyan headteacher Mary. It was interesting to learn about the wildlife associated with the Forest of Dean and to step back in history looking at life over 100 years ago. After a tour of the museum the pupils visited the Forester’s cottage, the Victorian School room, the waterwheel and the adventure playground. Lastly we all followed the newly created Hungry Caterpillar trail with the fabulous carved caterpillars. It was great to spend time with the pupils from Woodside School and to tour this unique Forest of Dean museum.

In the afternoon Esther spent time with the youngest pupils in the school in Reception and the eldest with Class 5/6O. After school Esther taught the Year 3/4 dance club a traditional Kenyan dance in the after school club. A busy end to the day saw Miss Read and Esther join with colleagues from Newnham and Woodside School for a meal.
