Tag Rugby Teams win Award at County Finals

Congratulations to the two Highnam Teams for proudly representing the Academy at the County Finals held at Hartpury College. Highnam was the only school with two teams present and all the players contributed to a successful day. During the morning, Highnam B won 1 game and Highnam A won all four of their games which meant Highnam A went through to the semi-finals of the Cup Competition. Highnam B narrowly missed out on entering the Plate Competition by one try.

In the semi-final Highnam played extremely well but were up against a super Hillview team, and lost by just one try 9-8. Pleasingly, Highnam A was awarded the Thomas Haile Fair Player Award for the way the team had played during the tournament. a fantastic achievement.

Tom's Mum wrote to the school and said:

I just wanted to say how proud I was to present your school with the 'Thomas Haile Award for Fair Play' today. Out of all the Schools I observed taking part today, I picked your School for a number of reasons. Mainly for their Brilliant Team spirit, camaraderie and the communication and respect between each player. I was also Impressed with the Overall Energy, manners and the level of Respect towards both their Coach and their Referee ... I felt very Honoured to hand over the trophy and shake the hands of such Polite, Lovely and Well Mannered Happy Children.
