Roman Doctor treats Unit Two
On the 29th May Mr Putley, a parent of the school, treated Unit Two to a fascinating talk all about the Romans. He talked to us about the various medical treatments that a Roman doctor would have used and even carried out operations on some pupils. We found out a number of interesting facts e.g. the Roman soldiers ate dock leaves to supplement their diet and lack of vitamins when fighting for the empire.Mr Putley brought with him a variety of tools and props to bring his talk to life. At the end we were all able to ask questions and study the exhibits more closely.
We had a very interesting afternoon and would like to thank Mr Putley for taking a day off work and bringing such an interesting presentation to Highnam Academy.
