Kenya Visit

Yesterday Mrs Greenough spoke to the Year 5 and 6 pupils about her time in Kenya.  Wow! What an interesting talk. She spoke about the great extremes in the country, from 5 star beach-side hotels to the muggers brandishing machetes who attacked her. It was fascinating to hear about the elephant she encountered looking through her bedroom window as well as the rampaging lion chasing an antelope through her campsite. Possibly the scariest story involved a hippopotamus who found Mrs Greenough between itself and the watering hole it was heading for.

We also listened with great interest to stories about the Kenyan tribes, mountains, lakes, transport systems and huge differences between the rich and poor. It saddened Mrs Greenough to witness thousands of tiny, poverty-stricken homes with tin roofs in the city ghettos.

We owe a great debt of gratitude to Mrs Greenough for talking with such interest and showing the children a huge array of Kenyan artefacts.
