Egg Drop Challenge

This term all our Key Stage Two children have been taking part in the Egg Drop Challenge. The task was to transport an egg safely to the ground from the top of the wall bars in the school hall. Each pupil was part of a mixed age group and had to work on a number of different elements to the challenge. Following initial ideas the team had to pick their favourite idea, complete a final design sheet, research the forces which may act upon the egg such as friction, air resistance and gravity and finally, make their egg drop model.

Research being carried out looking at the forces which would act upon the egg.

The marking critieria was based on: teamwork; written work produced; originaility of the idea and how the egg got on. Over the last couple of days each group has watched with fear and anticipation as their egg drop transporter has been released carrying a real (ready to smash into a thousand pieces) egg.

Here are some of the teams with their egg transporters.
