Big Pedal 2014

The Big Pedal Cycle Ride began last week at Highnam Primary Academy.  This national competition is taking place from 3rd March to the 14th March.  Last year over 1,000 schools took part and we came 10th overall.  We would like to do even better this year.  Parents can really help because any mum or dad who cycles doubles the points for their child.

How does The Big Pedal work?

This two-week-long event is organised a bit like the Tour de France. Each day is a different time trial, with different stages from long flat ones to hillier mountainous ones. The more people that cycle to school on that day, the quicker the time our school will get for that stage. The winning school is the one that gets the lowest time overall.

Highnam Academy finished in 8th place with 58% of the school community cycling or scooting!
