Highnam Reach County Cricket Final
On a lovely sunny morning Highnam Academy took part in the County Cricket Finals. Highnam was in a group with Cirencester, Great Rissington and Christchurch Schools. In the first game Highnam played Cirencester and after a great bowling display restricted the opposition to 261. Following some big hitting from Jasper and Amaan Highnam needed 4 runs off the last ball. Fortunately, the bowler bowled a no ball and Amaan hit the extra ball for four runs so Highnam won the first match by just two runs.
In the next game against Great Rissington again the boys bowled well restricting the opposition to 282. This left the batter a challenging target but following another solid batting display Highnam won by 7 runs, scoring 289.
This meant they played Christchurch school from Bristol for a place in the semi-finals. Unfortunately they lost to a very good cricket team who had won the competition last year. It was great to see the teamwork and supportive play from all Highnam players and the fantastic support from parents and grandparents.
